Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, why Vridesk uses them, exactly which cookies we set, and how you can control your preferences.

1. What Are Cookies

1.1 Definition

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, remember your preferences, and give website operators useful information about how their site is being used.

1.2 How Cookies Work

When you visit Vridesk, a cookie may be sent from our server to your browser and stored on your device. On subsequent visits, your browser sends the cookie back to our server, allowing us to recognise you and recall your settings - such as keeping you logged in or remembering that you prefer dark mode.

1.3 First-Party vs Third-Party Cookies

First-party cookies are set directly by Vridesk (vridesk.vriyox.com) and are used for functional purposes such as authentication and preferences. Third-party cookies are set by external services we use - such as payment processors - and are governed by those providers' own policies.

1.4 Local Storage

In addition to cookies, Vridesk uses browser localStorage for certain user preferences, such as your light or dark theme. This data stays on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers.

2. Why We Use Cookies

Vridesk uses cookies for the following core purposes:

  • To authenticate you and maintain a secure session across page loads and browser restarts.
  • To remember your interface preferences - sidebar state, colour theme, and light/dark mode.
  • To protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks.
  • To understand at an aggregated level how visitors interact with our marketing website, so we can improve it.

3. Types of Cookies We Use

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the platform to function and cannot be switched off. They are set automatically when you log in or interact with a security-sensitive feature. Without these cookies, you cannot stay logged in, navigate between pages, or use any part of the platform.

Because they are essential, these cookies do not require your consent and cannot be disabled through our preference centre. You can delete them manually through your browser, but doing so will log you out immediately.

3.2 Preference Cookies

These cookies remember choices you have made to personalise your experience. They allow us to present the interface in the way you prefer across sessions - for example, keeping your sidebar collapsed or maintaining your chosen colour theme.

Preference cookies are not essential for the platform to function, but disabling them means your settings will reset each time you open a new browser session.

3.3 Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our marketing pages - which pages are read most, where visitors come from, and how long they stay. This data is aggregated and anonymised; it is not used to identify you individually.

We only activate analytics cookies after you have given consent. You may withdraw this consent at any time by updating your preferences.

3.4 Marketing Cookies

Marketing cookies may be used to display content that is relevant to your interests. They may track your activity across multiple websites to build a profile of your browsing behaviour.

We only activate marketing cookies with your explicit prior consent. You can withdraw this consent at any time without affecting the platform's functionality.

4. Specific Cookies We Set

Below is a complete list of first-party cookies that Vridesk sets when you use the platform.

  • vridesk_session - stores your authenticated login session. Type: Strictly Necessary. httpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Strict. Expires after 7 days.
  • vridesk_impersonator - set only when a workspace owner activates the View-as-member feature. Stores the owner's original session for restoration. Type: Strictly Necessary. httpOnly, Secure. Expires after 2 hours.
  • sidebar_collapsed - remembers whether your sidebar is expanded or in icon-only mode. Type: Preference. Non-sensitive. Expires after 1 year.
  • theme - stores your light or dark mode preference. Type: Preference. Non-sensitive. Expires after 1 year.

5. Third-Party Cookies

5.1 Payment Processors

When you initiate or complete a payment, our payment gateway (such as Razorpay) may set its own cookies on your device to handle the transaction securely and prevent fraud. These cookies are entirely governed by the payment processor's own privacy and cookie policies, which we encourage you to review independently.

5.2 Analytics Providers

If you consent to analytics, a third-party analytics service may set cookies to track aggregated usage patterns on our marketing website. We configure these services to anonymise IP addresses and to honour Do Not Track browser signals where supported.

5.3 No Advertising Networks

We do not currently use any advertising networks or retargeting services that set third-party tracking cookies across the web without your explicit consent. For details on how we handle your personal data more broadly, see our Privacy Policy.

6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

6.1 Cookie Consent Banner

When you first visit our marketing website, a cookie consent banner is displayed. You can choose to accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or granularly select which categories you are comfortable with. Your choice is saved immediately and applied across your session.

6.2 Browser Settings

All major browsers allow you to view, manage, block, or delete cookies through their settings. Refer to your browser's help documentation for specific instructions:

  • Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and Site Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions
  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data

6.3 Opt-Out Tools

For analytics and advertising cookies set by third-party providers, you can use industry opt-out tools such as the NAI opt-out page or the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out portal. These tools work at the browser level and must be re-applied if you clear your cookies.

7. Impact of Disabling Cookies

It is important to understand what happens when you block different categories of cookies.

  • Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in or maintaining an active session. The platform will not work correctly.
  • Blocking preference cookies means your interface settings (sidebar state, colour theme, dark mode) will reset to defaults every time you start a new browser session.
  • Blocking analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the platform in any way.
  • Blocking marketing cookies will not affect the platform. You may simply see less relevant content on external sites.

8. Cookie Retention Periods

8.1 Session Cookies

Session cookies are stored only for the duration of your current browser session. They are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Vridesk uses session cookies for temporary state management and CSRF protection.

8.2 Persistent Cookies

Persistent cookies remain on your device until they expire or until you delete them manually. Vridesk login sessions persist for 7 days from the time of login. Preference cookies (sidebar state, theme) persist for up to 1 year. You can delete all cookies at any time through your browser settings, which will log you out of the platform.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our use of cookies. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the platform or by email.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
